E3 Gets New Organizer for Its June 2023 Return
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, will return in the second week of June 2023, the Entertainment Software Association said Thursday. It'll be run by new organizer ReedPop, which is also responsible for PAX, Star Wars Celebration and New York Comic Con.
ESA's chief executive, Stan Pierre-Louis, previously confirmed that the 2023 event will be held digitally and in person.
"For years, we've listened, heard, and studied the global gaming community's feedback," Kyle Marsden-Kish, ReedPop global VP of gaming, said in a release. "E3 2023 will be recognizably epic -- a return to form that honors what's always worked, while reshaping what didn't and setting a new benchmark for video game expos in 2023 and beyond."
E3 was held as a digital event in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was meant to happen in 2022 as well but ultimately got canceled so ESA could focus on next year's show.
Summer Game Fest seemed poised to replace E3 as the June video-game industry showcase, but last month's event didn't quite capture the excitement of the best conventions. It appears the two shows will happen next year: Host Geoff Keighley confirmed on Thursday that Summer Game Fest will run as a "free digital and in-person event" in June 2023.
